The first of my film projects.  We learned many things, which is the point, like not to have mic that close to the miserable camera.

Work continunes

Well I know I am talking to myself here for the most part, but it helps to stay on track.

The first short is nearly done.  things are taking a lot longer to do because I am taking my time with them.  The short is based on this image:

and it involves Jane inviting a few friends over for dinner.
I am about 85% done with it now, I just need to fix some color issues, add in some nice creative commons license music.

The main problem is... I used the Canon 7D with a external mic, and I placed the mic too close the camera itself so I picked up a great deal of camera noise.  Lesson learned.

Moving Right Along...

Yeah so opening up for weekly updates in May, not going to happen, June, I can do.
I am talking to a large number actors and models, I have scripts and I have even done the first shoot.  So I am moving the plan back a month, to build up content and get more videos ready.

OK back to working on things.

New video...

Working on the weekly thing... though it isn't an offical launch yet.

So we have another test video up, this time playing with the Shatter Plugin
While not nearly as good as a nice 3D simulation of the same thing, it works.

Working on things

So I had this plan to enter into a contest.... it didnt work out.   First several props didn't arrive, they got lost in the mail.  But Amazon was remarkably cool about it, and refunded or resent things... either way they didnt arrive in time.  the second issue was my project had too many actors in it, and on short notice we couldn't find all the people needed.   So I will finish the project, minus the contest elements... so nothing is lost, just delayed.
I can however see that the main failure point on these ideas will be casting.

No new video up yet, I am however reworking the rest video a bit... adding in shadows, a new section etc.

Just a test however... I didnt have help here to finish up the other parts of this to make it have a plot.

Hopefully shooting a complex video this weekend....hopefully.

What this is all about

Right then, new blog.  Which makes sense... doing something new.

Here is the Production Blog from Xilstudio.   To keep myself sane and functional I am going to be doing a great deal of video work and posting notes, behind the scenes and so forth here.

So then what are the goals?  I have monetized the YouTube channel,
http://www.youtube.com/user/xilstudios?feature=mhum
and I am going to try get into the YouTube Partners program, the goal is make enough money to make more videos to make more money for videos.  The overall goal is to get a studio, which allows me to make longer videos, better videos and more videos.

What kinds of videos?  Well I had plans to do longer series and serials, those plans are currently on hold.  For now we are doing short, FX heavy videos, much like several other channels you have heard of (Freddiew, corridordigital, etc).   My channel be a bit different in that I have very different ideas, leaning more toward fantasy and horror than video games and guns.
check out my Deviant Art page... imagine most of those as short videos.
http://xilstudio.deviantart.com/

I have a notebook full of random ideas for funny, disturbing, weird videos.  And starting in May there will be a new video each Sunday (or Tuesday... haven't decided yet).  Either way the Blog will update each Sunday telling you what is up.

So subscribe to the channel, watch all the videos... the more you make them popular the more I will be able to shoot new stuff.
